ITINERARY FOR HAMPTA PASS

  • Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra (1 hour) Trek to Chika (2 hours) | 10,100 ft
  • Day 2: Trek from Chika to Balu Ka Ghera (5.8 kms or 5 hours) | 12,000 ft
  • Day 3: Trek from Balu Ka Gera to Hampta Pass to Siagoru (7 Kms or 8 Hours) | 14,100 ft
  • Day 4: Trek from Siagoru to Chatru (6 kms or 4.5 hours) Drive to Chandrataal and back (3 hours)
  • Day 5: Drive from Chatru to Manali (4-5 hours)

DAY 1 REACH JOBRA AND TREK TO CHIKA:

(1 hour) Trek to Chika (2 hours) | 10,100 ft

  • Start the day with a collective jeep transfer from the Manali bus stand to Jobra.
  • The trek encompasses a 2 km route that meanders through diverse forests of pine, green maple, and birch trees, following the course of the River Rani.
  • Revel in the breathtaking vistas of rugged hills and the distinctive topography of Himachal.
  • An overnight stay will be at the Chika campsite.

DAY 2 TREK FROM CHIKA TO BALU-KA-GERA:

Trek from Chika to Balu Ka Ghera (5.8 kms or 5 hours) | 12,000 ft

Next destination is Balu ka Ghera. This trail is moderate and has short meadow walk as well as boulder section for a couple of hours. Further the trail leads us all the way to loose rocks. You will find mountains in front of you and our trekking will start along the Rani River to a valley. After crossing the valley we come out of Chika. We will then reach Chota Balu ka Ghera and continue trekking along the river. Soon we will reach our destination.

DAY 3 BALU KA GHERA TO SHEA GORU VIA HAMPTA PASS:

Trek from Balu Ka Gera to Hampta Pass to Siagoru (7 Kms or 8 Hours) | 14,100 ft

Third day trekking will include two stages. First we will climb to Hampta Pass and then to Shea Goru. The climb is strenuous all the way up to Hampta pass. We will walk at a steady pace further on this trek. After an hour of going further on this trail you will come across your first serious incline

DAY 4 TREK FROM SHEAGORU TO CHATRU, CHANDRATAL & RETURN TO CHATRU, CAMP IN CHATRU:

Trek from Siagoru to Chatru (6 kms or 4.5 hours) Drive to Chandrataal and Back (3 hours)

Depart from the camps in the morning and begin the trek by crossing the river located near the campsite. The river crossing itself is a challenging experience. Let’s consider it a surprise for the trek. The first half of the trek is relatively easy and mostly downhill. As you descend, you will witness the vast valley of the Chandra River. Chhatru serves as the road head. From Chhatru, drive to Chandratal. Arrive at Chandratal by late afternoon. After spending some time at Chandratal, return to Chhatru by evening for camping. Please be aware that the road to Chandratal may be closed at times due to landslides or snow. If the road is closed, the drive to Chandratal will not be possible.

DAY 5 DEPARTURE FROM CHATRU (4-5 hours)
